BIO
"Life is far too important to be taken seriously"-Oscar Wilde. That's exactly the foundation that Kid Sid builds his life around and it's the message that his music sets to represent. Instead of stressing over the hardships of life, he would rather embrace those hardships and role with the punches. This 22 year old singer songwriter likes to go against the grain of what is expected of him and uplift those brave enough to rebel against the norm. Between melodic synths, wailing guitars and haunting vocals Kid Sid manages to craft a sound that is refreshing; he sets to break apart from the assumption that he is just another "R&B Artist". With inspiration from 80's rock bands and artists like Prince and Tears for Fears, he's determined to display his own classic sound.
Kid Sid experienced several hardships thought out his childhood, which caused him to become guarded and boxed in. He suffered from the separation of his parents, rejection from his peers at school and allowed those things to affect his spirit. Sid found it better to fit into the crowd rather than stand out, because he was afraid to continue to feel the rejection he felt from people he loved. He often used music and performing as an outlet, a way to become another person or to step into another world. Entertainment became his way out, something that he can be confident in and it provided a contrast to the shy persona that he displayed in his every day life. After gaining more confidence as a singer and performer, writing became a natural tool to express inter emotions that he wasn't able to express before.
Kid Sid released his first EP titled "Intro to Kid Sid" independently in January 2010. The Ep scored him a spotlight slot on Chicago's Power 92.3 fm as Chicago's next up and coming artist and radio play from several college radio stations. He's performed at many premier venues around the Chicago area including; Automatic Lofts Fashion Show, Galeria Night Club, Capitol Night Club, The Redemption Theater, Columbia College Chicago, Almi 900 and several open mic nights. After the run of his first EP, Kid Sid realized that the music that he was writing wasn't the direction that he was meant to take. It was a flashback of how he felt when he was younger and having the need to fit into a box in order to please other people. So he looked forward to crafting his own sound, that truly represented himself as a person and all around music artist.
After exploring himself as an artist, Kid Sid found the direction that he was meant to take and is using this new inspiration to develop a brand new project. He is excited about this new confidence and hopes to inspire those who lack self worth.VIDEOS
